Whenever discussion over North Korea arises in Western circles, it always seems to be accompanied by a strange mixture of sensationalism and indifference. The mainstream media consistently presents the communist nation as an immediate threat to U.S. national security, conjuring an endless number of hypothetical scenarios as to how they could join forces with Al-Qaeda and attack with a terroristic strategy. At the same time, the chest puffing of the late Kim Jong-iL and the standard fare of hyper-militant rhetoric on the part of the North Korean government in general seem to have lulled the American public into a trance of non-concern.

What in the world is China up to? Over the past several years, the Chinese government and large Chinese corporations have been systematically buying up businesses, homes, farmland, real estate, infrastructure and natural resources all over America.
Dr. Jim Garrow was willing to be called a “smuggler” and a “child trafficker,” risking his life if the Chinese police discovered what he was doing – but for this Canadian living in the land of a one-child policy, saving baby girls from certain death was worth the risk.
Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa launch attack to to replace the dollar with an single Chinese denominated “super-Sovereign” global currency.
This month, the Hong Kong Census and Statistics Department reported that China imported 102,779 kilograms of gold from Hong Kong in November, an increase from October’s 86,299 kilograms. Beijing does not release gold trade figures, so for this and other reasons the Hong Kong numbers are considered the best indication of China’s gold imports.
Perhaps the powers-that-be are coming to the conclusion that the Chinese Miracle is indeed an unsustainable one. And that people ought to know about it. It doesn’t add much to the credibility of an already maligned mainstream press to be blindsided by the collapse of the world’s biggest country, after all.
China’s Premier Wen Jiabao has just warned that China’s economy is now facing challenges, including higher-than-desired inflation and an economic slowdown.
Our guest James Rickards, the author of Currency Wars: The Making Of The Next Global Crisis, says this slowdown will be significantly worse than most people think.
Chinese President Hu Jintao on Tuesday urged the navy to prepare for military combat, amid growing regional tensions over maritime disputes and a US campaign to assert itself as a Pacific power.
The navy should “accelerate its transformation and modernisation in a sturdy way, and make extended preparations for military combat in order to make greater contributions to safeguard national security,” he said.
Dominant Social Theme: China’s got some problems. But a soft landing is virtually guaranteed. They’re a powerhouse, after all, destined to lead the world.
Free-Market Analysis: Given the turmoil in Europe, the mainstream media remains quiet about China to a large extent.
A military General from the Chinese National Defense University says that China should not hesitate to protect Iran, even if it means launching world war three, as more US warships are dispatched to the region amidst heightening tension.
The editors of the Economist “newspaper” – who never met a tin-pot dictatorship or dictator that they couldn’t find some way to praise – have apparently “hit a wall” when it comes to China. That great hope of capitalism (Communist China) is broke and heading for a hard landing.
